Weekend & Writing

Hello Friends!

I would like to apologize for being MIA so frequently lately, and promise you more regular posts! It’s always such a shame when life gets in the way of writing. One of my latest endeavors has been working on an online writing portfolio – check it out if you feel so inclined (it’s also located in the “Writing Services” section at the top of the blog). It’s still in the works, and not yet 100% complete.

Hope everyone had a happy and healthy holiday season, and enjoy your weekend!

Post-Easter Fun!

This week’s Friday’s Most Wanted is actually not a Friday’s Most Wanted post, but instead I thought it would be fun to share a few photos from Easter with you. I’ve always been a fan of the Ukrainian traditions my family holds for each holiday (and everything else…), and Easter is one of those holidays filled with tons of traditions. For example, we headed over to church for a 12 am liturgy, and then had our Easter baskets (filled with delicious kielbasa and Easter goodies) blessed after the service. The entire Easter weekend was pretty much filled with eating, eating, and oh, more eating (my family and I are very good at that).

I also wanted to share with you two articles of clothing that I have recently inherited and just love. The first is a one-of-a-kind coat made in Ukraine. Just look at how gorgeous it is in the photo below! The second is the dress I wore for Easter, given to me by my future sister-in-law. It has an asian design and is very bright – a perfect fit for the holiday. Hope everyone had a wonderful Easter, and enjoy your weekend!

Friday’s Most Wanted

When trying to kill some time before dinner yesterday in the West Village, I stumbled upon CO Bigelow Pharmacy. I really only walked in to see what scents they have (love me some good scents), and ended up falling in love with this store! It’s really not just a pharmacy – the store also carries perfumes, lotions, soaps, candles, journals, and more, from all these great brands such as CO Bigelow. This week’s most wanted is a CO Bigelow Eau De Parfum Spray that smells like Ginger Mentha, aka amazing.

I will be traveling over the weekend and the next week for the holidays, so please excuse my lack of writing for a week. Happy Holidays to all!

Saturday’s Most Wanted (to make up for Friday’s!)

Hello friends. Please forgive me for not posting a Friday’s Most Wanted piece yesterday! I have been so extremely busy lately, and a bit sick this week. It is also my Christmas this weekend (as a Ukrainian, I celebrate on Jan. 7th), so I am once again traveling to spend the holidays with family.

To make up for yesterday’s Friday’s Most Wanted, I’d like to share with you a Target purchase I just made. I always end up spending money at Target (thank goodness there are none near my apartment in NY, or I’d be in even more debt than I am now!). Last time I was at Target, I saw a gold Marc Jacobs clutch I really wanted. This time when I went back, I saw a black Marc Jacobs scarf I liked even more, and for $20 it was a steal, so you know I had to treat myself to a Christmas present. Love Target’s designer collaborations!

Holiday’s Most Wanted!

This week’s “Friday’s Most Wanted” post is very special – I’ve asked a few of my favorite bloggers if they could send me a photo and quote of their most wanted piece for Holidays. Check out the selections below!

“I tend to gravitate towards soft gray tones and fun cloud patterns, so it’s no suprise that that I would fall in love with Donna Wilson’s Rainy Day Wool Throw the second I laid eyes on it. Hand knit from lambswool, it’s sure to keep me toasty warm through the winter months for years to come!” – Gloria from Little White Whale

“Hello there, I’m Santa from Homestilo and I have to say when asked for a “most wanted” item, I felt very challenged. See, my shopping list always goes a long way. But, lately, I am trying something new. I am trying to focus on the missing basics that my wardrobe needs. One of these is definitely a blazer. I’m more of a cardigan or even sweater coat kind of girl. But it’s time to add a classic blazer to the closet.

I’ve narrowed it down to these two selections from a Spanish chain , Massimo Dutti. The first I fell in love for the elbow patch detail and the fact that it is blue and in wool. The second I am loving for it’s modern collar and stamped buttons. Ahh decisions, decisions…” – Santa from Homestilo

“When Lanya asked if I would share my most wanted piece for the holidays, I wondered how I’d be able to choose just one thing! There are so many things I obsess over! (Many of them in my Girly Gift Guide). But one item that I am actually totally in love with is the “Amy Watch with Glitz Makers” from Marc by Marc Jacobs. I love chunky watches that make a bold statement, and since most of the watches I own have leather straps, I’ve been looking for a watch with a metal bracelet. And this one puts a girly and playful spin on a classic menswear-inspired watch. I adore the colorful crystals in place in place of more traditional diamond makers, and the light gold tone keeps the watch modern. This would be a fabulous addition to any girls jewelry collection (including mine)! Happy holidays everyone!” – Ashley from Girly Obsessions

Monday Style Quote

How does your mother inspire you?

“My mother inspires me in every way. She taught my brothers and me to believe in ourselves and have the courage to think differently. She was and is eternally inquisitive, open and compassionate about other people and cultures, which opened up worlds for us growing up. She’s also an eternal optimist. She always used to say, “No matter how bad today might seem, you wake up tomorrow and it’s a whole new day.” Of course, she is a constant design inspiration for us. She is the most stylish woman I know.” -Designer Tory Burch

In lieu of Mother’s Day yesterday, I wanted to share the lovely quote above from designer Tory Burch about how her mother inspires her. For more quotes from designers about their mothers, visit Harper Bazaar’s Mother’s Day Interviews.
